On October 27th, the Ministry of Agriculture held a symposium on the development of Chinese herbal medicine industry in Beijing, and proposed to develop resource-based medicinal materials based on resource endowments. The “National Plan for the Construction of National Medicinal Materials Production Bases” will be formulated, and a number of local medicinal materials production bases with a long history, distinctive characteristics and outstanding advantages will be built to help farmers increase their incomes and get rid of poverty and the development of Chinese medicine.
The meeting pointed out that at present, China has formed four dominant regions of Chinese herbal medicines in Northeast China, North China, Jiangnan and South China, Southwest China and Northwest China. The Chinese herbal medicines distributed in remote mountainous areas have outstanding effects on increasing income and poverty alleviation. They are an important source of local specialty industries and farmers' income. It is necessary to focus on the main line of structural reform of the supply side of agriculture, gather key points, and gather strengths to intensify the development of the Chinese medicine industry and accelerate the construction of the local medicine production base.
