The Chinese medicine coding rules apply to the coding of Chinese herbal medicines, traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces, and traditional Chinese medicine formula particles. The characteristics and advantages of traditional Chinese medicine have been solidified in the form of standards, highlighting the thinking mode of inheritance and innovation. Its information is short, accurate and safe, filling the gaps both domestically and internationally.

After more than three years, they were voted by ISO on February 8 this year. Previously, the Chinese medicine coding system had not been established internationally, and there was no top-level design of the coding rules.

Liao Liping said that the Chinese medicine coding rule is a basic work, and it is a "dictionary library" for Chinese medicine + Internet to digitally encode Chinese medicine. This international standard will become a commanding point for Chinese medicine to go global and occupy the international market. It will provide a strong standardization support system for the realization of the national “Belt and Road” development strategy, and build a national standard system for Chinese medicine and even the world, and promote the internationalization of Chinese medicine. Modernization, standardization, standardization and informatization, health China construction and drug safety play a major role.

Liao Liping said: "The approval of this international standard is very important. For the six international standards that we are responsible for leading the development of the declaration, the Chinese Medicine Code is the top design of these standards, which will be traditional Chinese medicine and traditional medicine of various countries. Provide digital coding basis and technical standards." It is the first step in digitization, standardization and informationization of Chinese medicine, and will greatly promote the "Chinese herbal medicine code", "Chinese medicine decoction code", "Chinese medicine formula particle code" and other 5 international Standard introduction. The approval and release of the first part of the top-level design not only highlights the international status and discourse power of China's leading Chinese medicine standards, but also reflects China's comprehensive strength, which will help China to better play the role of leading Chinese medicine series standards in the international arena.

This international standard has become the first international ISO standard for Chinese medicine that was completed by China this year. It is the transformation of local standards in Shenzhen to national standards and international standards. A success story of the standard. The project “The Research and Formulation of the National Standards for Chinese Medicine Codes and Coding” was awarded the Li Shizhen Medical Innovation Award of the China Association of Chinese Medicine in 2015. This is the first time that China's national standard project has won this honor.
