On August 8, the State Council issued the "13th Five-Year National Science and Technology Innovation Plan", focusing on the tasks of disease prevention and control, rehabilitation and old-age, and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine.

 

In terms of modernization of traditional Chinese medicine, the "Planning" pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the theoretical innovation of traditional Chinese medicine and the modern inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine, accelerate the objectification of the four diagnostic clinics of Chinese medicine, the treatment of Chinese medicine, the ecological cultivation of Chinese herbal medicines, and the precise use of traditional Chinese medicines. Breakthrough, formulate a number of clinical programs for the prevention and treatment of major diseases and difficult diseases of Chinese medicine, develop a batch of Chinese medicine health products, enhance the level of international scientific and technological cooperation of Chinese medicine, accelerate the modernization of Chinese medicine services and the development of large health industries.

 

In the prevention and treatment of major infectious diseases such as AIDS and viral hepatitis, the "Planning" pointed out that it is necessary to improve the effectiveness of clinical treatment programs for AIDS, hepatitis B and tuberculosis, and to form a treatment plan for Chinese medicine.

 

In strengthening cooperation research with countries along the “Belt and Road”, the “Plan” pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen agriculture, population health, water management, desertification and salinization, environmental pollution monitoring, desalination and comprehensive utilization, ocean and geology. Substantial cooperation in major public welfare science and technology fields such as disaster monitoring, ecosystem protection, biodiversity conservation, and world heritage protection will promote the joint development of biological resources and the promotion of health services in the fields of Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine.
